PRN’s Executive & Clinical Director, Charles Elias, had the pleasure of collaborating on a presentation to clinical and educational professionals this month in Miami. Together with Ray Estefania, interventionist, clinician and co-owner of Family Recovery Specialists (www.familyrecoveryspecialists.com); and David Altshuler, educational consultant, clinician, educator and author (www.davidaltshuler.com), Charles presented on the topic, “When Therapy Isn’t Enough: Intervention & Treatment Options for Adolescents and Young Adults.

With a focus on providing different strategies and options for clinical and educational professionals to draw upon when they are struggling to meet the needs of a child or young adult and their families. Each of the three presentations looked at different stages of the process–from investigating therapeutic options, to intervention strategies, to various treatment modalities, to creating collaborative wrap-around after-care.

Over 65 Miami area professionals participated in the half-day event, and enjoyed the wisdom, humor, storytelling and experience offered by these three seasoned clinicians. PRN for Families was honored to be a part of this event and looks forward to ongoing collaborations with such wonderful colleagues as David and Ray!

As a parent or referring professional, are you concerned about your child or client reverting back to old negative behaviors when they return home for their summer break? Are you concerned that they may lose ground that they had gained during their therapeutic programming? If so, PRN for Families may be able to assist you.

PRN’s HOME FROM SCHOOL program is a customized package of services designed for families of students attending traditional or non-traditional boarding schools that need additional support over school breaks.  While spending time with family is important, it can often be challenging as a result of complex family dynamics and chemistry between family members, as well as due to ongoing mental health, behavioral, and substance use issues.  Our HOME FROM SCHOOL program is designed for students and families that may require an extra level of support. We work with the whole family system to provide tools and support necessary for a successful longer visit. The program is structured with a high level of accountability, and is customized to meet the specific needs of each client and family.
