Congratulations Dr. Jared Tonks!

PRN for Families offers our hearty congratulations to Jared Tonks,  one of our Family Consultants, on earning his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership! Jared successfully defended his dissertation and was formally awarded his Doctor of Education degree from Idaho State University in January. Jared had previously earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Brigham Young University and a Master of Counseling degree in School Counseling from Idaho State University.

Jared’s doctoral research explored the application of the Stages of Change, presented in the Transtheoretical Model of Change (TTM), in identifying differences in perceptions of binge-drinking and in binge-drinking behaviors among college freshman. Students’ self-identified stage of change was then measured against behavior to determine which factors might be helpful in identifying students who are prone to problematic drinking behavior. We look forward to having Jared present his research at conferences and symposia over the coming year.

Jared joined PRN for Families in June of 2016 as a Family Consultant, and he provides home-based assessments, case management, case consultation, clinical family coaching, and outreach to our clients. We are proud to have Jared as a member of our team! You can learn more about Jared on our staff page at:  http://www.prnforfamilies.com/about-the-team/ or at jtonks@prnforfamilies.com.

PRN for Families moves toward Joint Commission Accreditation

As part of PRN for Families’ commitment to excellence in the delivery of clinical and outreach services for our clients, we are excited to be moving ever closer to behavioral healthcare accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). This process involves scrutiny and evaluation of every aspect of our agency, from policies, procedures and paperwork, to training, treatment, and client satisfaction. The goal is to ensure that we are operating with best practices in everything that we do, as evaluated by the Joint Commission’s experts in excellence in behavioral health care. It is a pleasure to work with skilled and knowledgeable accreditation consultants who are assisting us in improving what we do and how we do it as we prepare for our accreditation survey visit.

Among the many benefits that come with accreditation by the Joint Commission, PRN especially looks forward to the opportunity to expand the scope of services that may be covered by our clients’ health insurance. We do currently provide clients with billing information that may allow for some insurance reimbursement. PRN’s administrative team is always happy to work with clients to determine what PRN services may be covered by their insurance benefits. We are always eager to increase the accessibility of our services to families who may benefit from our model of care. Additionally, we know that families and referring professionals will be reassured that the clinical, outreach and reunification services provided by PRN for Families are “certified” as among the best in the industry. We look forward to updating you as we accomplish our accreditation goal!
